Learn how to use TubeTutor and understand the credits system
TubeTutor turns videos into reusable learning projects. You can review subtitles, generate AI summaries, analyze visual content, build mindmaps, take notes, and ask questions about the video.
Register or sign in to your TubeTutor account. Open the Projects page. Find the "Synthesize new content" section in the center of the page. Select an output language before starting the analysis if needed. Each analysis is saved as a project. You can reopen it later from the Projects page without importing the video again.
The large input in the "Synthesize new content" section supports two different actions: Enter keywords to search for YouTube videos; Paste a video URL directly. The "Search projects" input at the top of the page is only for finding saved projects. It does not search for or import new videos.
If you have not selected a video yet, enter a search phrase. Steps: Enter keywords in the main search box. Select the output language. Click "Analyze." The page displays related YouTube video results. Find the video you want and click "Analyze this video." TubeTutor checks the video information, duration, and subtitle status.
If you already have a video, copy its URL and paste it directly. Supported platforms: YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook. Steps: Copy the complete URL from the video platform. Paste it into the main search box. Select the output language. Click "Analyze." Wait for the pre-analysis check to finish.
The output language controls the language used for generated content, including subtitle translations, AI Summary, Visual Analysis, and Mindmap. Available choices may include: Original video language, Simplified Chinese, English, Japanese, Other languages provided in the menu. Choose "Original video language" if you want to keep the generated content in the source language. If you select Simplified Chinese, TubeTutor will try to present the generated learning content in Simplified Chinese even when the source video uses another language.
After you select a video and click "Analyze," TubeTutor displays a pre-analysis check before starting the full AI workflow. The confirmation window includes: Source language, Output language, Video duration, Subtitle status, Processing method, Estimated usage. Click "Continue" after reviewing the information. Native and AI-generated subtitles: TubeTutor uses native subtitles when they are available. If no usable subtitles are found, AI transcription is required. AI subtitle processing time depends on video length.
After you confirm, TubeTutor creates a project and opens the video analysis workspace.
Play the video directly in the workspace and use chapters to understand its structure. Click a subtitle or chapter timestamp to jump to the matching position. Playing the video and viewing existing chapters do not use credits.
View timestamped original subtitles. Follow the current subtitle while the video plays. Switch to or generate a target language. Find specific parts of the video. Export subtitles. If native subtitles are unavailable, TubeTutor generates AI subtitles. Subtitle export is a Pro feature.
Open the "Summary" tab and click "Generate Summary." The AI Summary can highlight: The main topic, Major ideas, Key steps, Important conclusions, Content worth reviewing. Completed summaries are saved in the project. Viewing them again is free.
Visual Analysis extracts details that may not be fully described by the subtitles, including: Websites and tools, Software, plugins, and interfaces, Prompts, Code snippets, On-screen text, Charts and diagrams, Menus, buttons, and procedures, Materials and resources shown in the video. Keep the page open while it is running.
Open the "Mindmap" tab and click "Generate Mindmap." Mindmaps are useful for: Understanding relationships between topics, Reviewing a video quickly, Building a learning framework, Organizing procedures and key concepts. After generation, you can edit node text, add child nodes, delete nodes, change node types and colors, apply automatic layout, and save.
Use Notes to record ideas, questions, and follow-up tasks while watching the video. You can create a note at the current video timestamp, edit an existing note, save important observations, associate notes with a video time, and reopen the project to continue later. Creating and editing manual notes does not use credits.
Use the "Ask TubeTutor AI" input to ask questions about the current video. For example: "Summarize the three most important ideas in this video." "Which tools are mentioned in the video?" "Explain the concept introduced at 05:20." Each successfully completed answer uses 10 credits.
TubeTutor creates a project whenever you begin a new video analysis. From the Projects page, you can: View previous analysis projects, Switch between card and list views, Use "Search projects" to find a saved project, Reopen a previously analyzed video, View saved subtitles and AI results, Continue taking notes, Generate features that have not been completed yet. Reopening a project and viewing existing results do not use credits.
Active Basic and Advanced subscribers can use export features marked Pro. Current export features include: Subtitle export, Learning material export. Available subtitle formats include: SRT, TXT, Markdown. Each successful export uses 1 credit.
Before a credit-based task begins, TubeTutor displays or checks its estimated usage. A task starts only when enough credits are available. Estimated credits are reserved when the task begins. The charge is finalized after the task succeeds. Reserved credits are released if the task fails, times out, or returns a service error. Successfully generated results can be viewed again for free. Manual regeneration is charged again at the current feature rate. Free accounts receive one first-video experience guarantee.
